SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY
The social security administration administers several types of benefits for the general public. One of those benefits is social security disability. If you have worked 5 out of the last 10 years and now have an illness or disability that prohibits you from working, contact the SSA and complete an application for benefits. To qualify you must be disabled for at least 1 year (or expected to be disabled for a year) and not worked for 5 months prior to filing the application with SSA. If you are denied please contact our office immediately. You only have 60 days to appeal the denial.
Fees are handled on a percentage bases according to the federal governments guidelines.
If you have not worked 5 out of the last 10 years you may still qualify for supplemental security income. SSA has limits in regards to the amount of assets you may possess however; SSA will assist you in filing your application and determining whether you qualify. If you are denied again contact our office immediately so we can look at your case and file an appeal if it appears you should not have been denied. This must be done within 60 days of the denial from SSA.
